right? you can count on them to overplay their hand and take politics to the point where it just becomes absurd. >> that's what's happening on two fronts, both regarding both, by the way, related to attorney general eric holder. it's happening on the leaks, which we have been talking about the last couple of days. the leaks investigation and on the fast and furious. and it erupted yesterday in a hearing in the senate judiciary committee where eric holder was called in to testify. i will tell what you this reminds me of. i would love to get your take on it, too. 866-55-press, your ticket to talking talk. it reminds me of the impeachment of bill clinton. again, what cleninton did was wrong. what clinton did was not fitting of a president of the united states. so he should have been reprimanded somehow or should have been scolded. whatever. but they have to take it at that

time. they took it all the way. right? to this ken star in there writing this salacious report, all of these hearings, and then i am paetsch impeaching him and the senate trial where he was found not guilty. it ended up, bill clinton's stock went up higher and higher and higher with the american people because the republicans were over playing their hand. they are doing the same thing dodd with eric holder. again it all flared yesterday in this hearing of the senate judiciary committee where first of all on the leaks and republicans are tying these two together. the hearing was about the fast and furious the second item we will get to but republicans tie this leak investigation to it and they are apoplectic because eric holder will not appoint a special counsel. they want another ken star.

they want another patrick fitzgerald. they demand there has to be a special counsel and john mccain yesterday, here is the front page of the hill this morning, john mccain charges obama with hypocracy on leaks. yeah. peter king is even worse in the house of representatives peter king yesterday said that the fact that obama will not appoint a special prosecutor on leaks makes this worse than watergate. worse than watergate when nixon was out there actually telling people to break in committee crimes, break in to offices to get information from the dnc? break into the brookings institute, break into daniel els ellsberg ellsberg's psychiatrist office, putting the f.b.i. out on his political enemies. that was watergate dread right from the oval. there is zero evidence that

these leaks about this cyber warfare that we appear to be conducting against iran's nuclear weapons program, that those leaks came from the white house at all. in fact, the author, david sanger of the article says he did not get his information from the white house. so mccain has absolutely zero evidence going behind his charges of white house directed. the other thing is what's ironic here, maybe they don't know is people like me us liberals, us progressives, i have been upset at the obama administration because they have been so aggressive against leaks. they ah ve -- obama administration in the last three years has launched more investigations into who leaked what to the "new york times" or whatever new services than any other administration in the history. more than george w. bush and dick cheney more than george

h.w. bush, the obama administration has been more aggressive, more anti-leaks than anybody else. so yesterday eric holder made that point that he is getting slammed from the left and the right. >> we have tried more leak cases, brought more leak cases during the course of this administration than any other administration. >> yeah. >> i was getting hammered by the left for that only two weeks ago. now, i am getting hammered by the right for potentially not going after leaks. it makes for an interesting it makes tore an interesting dynamic. >> to share shame. what has the attorney general done? in this case, he got two u.s. attorneys, one from maryland maryland, i think the other from virginia or maybe from dc and he has pointed these two u.s. attorneys to investigate where these leaks come from but for republicans, no. >> that's not good enough. they need that special council.

here is lindsey graham yesterday. >> talking about the downside of a special counsel, somebody new other than these two people that all of us could buy into. >> senator, i think you are missing something here. >> i guess you are mixing the fact that this is a very big deal deal. >> uh-huh. >> you are handling it in a way that creates suspicions where they should not be. >> i think you are missing the point. i think you are. this is a big deal. >> i mean these two u.s. attorneys, by the way, they are on the case. they have already interviewed the director of the fbi and other federal officials. they are trying to find these leaks. >> that's not good enough. then, of course john cornyn has to make the play for the cameras, that dumb as a fence post senator from texas saying you have got to resign. >> mr. attorney general, it's more with sorrow than regret -- than anger that i would say that you leave me know alternative

but to join those that equal upon you to resign your office. >> what an idiot. what a total i had ". first of all, he was reading from a statement. he can't even read the freaking statement. >> how heart-felt. >> yeah, as though he is in sorrow. you know what? it's just a cheap call for a head line, just a cheap call for publicity. who the freak cares? >> thank you. >> what john cornyn thinks about anything. and who cares that he calls on eric holder to resign? what does that mean? nothing. you know what, right here and now. are you ready? peter, do we have a fanfare? >> drum roll. >> let's hear it. [drum roll.) >> i call on john cornyn to resign out of sorrow. not out of anger. out of sorrow. yes. i call on john boehner to resign. it will hurts me to do that. but i feel i am obliged to do it. i call on mitch mcconnell to resign. all three of them. i call on them to resign.

so there. all right. that's worth what john cornyn did yesterday. what a bunch of just overzealous politicians, over playing their hand, shame on all of them. you know what? i have got to tell you i am not a big fan of eric holders to be honest. i am still disappointed that he didn't go after george bush and dick cheney for war crimes gone after rick scott. what took him so long? i am a critic of eric holder's but damn it, i am a defender of his when he is taken on by lippedsayby lindsey graham and john cornyn. let's stand with eric holder on this one. >> this is the bill press show. paul ryan and john boehner and mitch mcconnell on everything

battle against the drug cartels against mexico which is a dumb-ass program. holder should have jumped on that sooner but here is the higher than of that to me is the very people who are pissed at holder because he didn't clamp down sooner on fast and furious are the ones who are the gun nutses and who never do anything to put the assault weapons ban which expired in 2004 back in place and prevent the flow of assault weapons to mexico. talk about hypocracy, if you will of it on their side plus a bunch of hyperbole. bob calling from seattle washington. what do you say. >> hey, bill. good to talk to you again. first of all, the mole so-called fast and furious thing was started under one george w. bush. >> thank you. right. >> that's not what i wanted to talk about.

i mean let's step back for a moment and rook at the bigger picture, you know. right now, attorney general holder is embroiled in, well not embroiled but going after florida governor rick scott. >> uh-huh. >> you know, his -- voter purge. >> incredibility attempts to press the vote there in flat. sot of course, the republcans are trying to take outeric holder because, you know, they take him out, then, you know their way of think something that, well, you know, for the voter purge. >> i think that's a good point, bob. >> that's a good reason why they want to shut eric holder down because if he goes after florida, next, he might go after some of the other states with voter purges as well. come on. by the way, why does anybody pay attention to john mccain

welcome to this morning's edition of the full court press, the host of viewpoint, governor eliot spitzer good morning. >> great to be with you on the show. >> hope we can make this a regular thing. >> i look forward to it. i have got to ask you, elliott, jamie diamond, head of j.p. morgan just blew $2 million is coming to washington today to testify and to explain it and reports are ahead of time et cetera basically going to tell senators, you know, stuff happens. so what? >> you know, bill, that was his attitude about the entire financial crisis. >> yeah. >> he used the metaphor of storms and hurricanes sometimes they just happen. nothing you can do about it as though they are acts of nature beyond the control of human beings and of course, that's the i amage ri they want to -- that being financial executives want to embrace as though gee, you can't regulate it.

it's not their fault. nobody is to blame. we are not in the blame game for sake of blaming people. we are in the game of understanding what happened and why so we can prevent it from happening again. jamie dymon doesn't want the simple rules and regulations that would protect the middle class and investors and people who don't very long billions of dollars of other people's money to throw around to gamble with that's why i hope he hasis given a hard time intellectually. he should be raked over the coals. >> i mean what does this this loss mean, do you think, in terms of the need for regulation of wall street. have they learned the lesson from 2008? >> of course not. it's like a student in a classroom who refuses to really have an open mind to examine the evidence. that student will never learn. the executives on wall street who began with the false premise

that they didn't need to be regulated that they knew better than anything else. >> yeah. >> they haven't challenged that. you listen to them talk, and it's like listening to mitt romney and so many of the others. it's as though they lived through a different historical period. you say, wait a minute. are we living in a parallel universe? where have you been for the last 10 years? look, you and i look at this something far beyond just wall street. we look at the plight of the middle class. the reality of transfer and say something more structural is amiss. they don't see that going on. they see themselves creating credit default swaps and pushing the dregs to everybody else. >> what they are complaining about is dodd frank, most of the provisions of which haven't kicked in yet. nobody went after these firms with more vigor than you did when you were attorney general ram, eliot.

dodd frank, i see it as kind of a slap on the wrist anyhow. isn't it? >> look here is the thing yes, you are right. i love barn e frank. we are going to miss him. is a lion, a great voice. >> absolutely. >> we wish the legislator had a bill that was a bit more rigorous in terms of what it was able to do but as barney will tell you the question is always compared to what? he didn't do enough structurally. but what these guys are complaining about is the voc he will willel rule -- voccel rule and they are saying but guys we like to gambleekel rul and they are saying but guys we like to gamble. it's not too big in the context of our balance sheet. here is the thing. what it's indicative of is the risk they are willing to take, the lack of internal controls and their inability to regulate themselves, the same sorts of problems that led us to 2008 next time, it will be bigger and

at the same time a few other banks made the same wrong bet. guess what's going to happen. we will have to step in to help them out. >> we are talking with silhouette spitzer, host of the represent viewpoint. eliot, this ties together with a story in politico this morning you may have seen about fund raising on wall street. these firms are doing better than. executives are making more money than ever. they got all of their bonuses back but yet when it comes from super p.a.c. donors, right, to obama or romney wall street donors are giving romney 37.1 million compared to 4.8 million for obama. they are doing so well under obama, why do they hate them? >> they just don't like barack. there is something visceral going on there because he had the timerity one time -- just once, to call them fat cats. and they said, you can't do that

to us. we are going to show you. here is the thing. f.d.r., during the depression, he called the bank executives down to the white house and said i am holding a pitch fork to you guys. he had he knew how to use lang. president obama when he invited him down said i am the only thing standing between you and the pitch fork basically saying i am your defense. so if you think about it, both the rhetoric and the substance of this white house as you pointed out so finely and with began you're in your show, he has been -- i don't want to say protective but he hasn't been tough on these guys. a lot wish he had been much much tougher. it is crazy. >> absolutely. again talking with governor eliot spitzer here on the full-court press this morning. eliot, the big buzz in washington and washington is just beside itself over these leaks. right right? two stories to the "new york times."

one saying there is a list of who guessed stacked by the drones. the president, himself, signs off on any other that we are involved in some kind of cyber warfare called stuksnet. i hope we are. people here are not focusing on what the story said but who leaked the stories. >> right first of all, stulksnet had been out there. people knew about it. there had been rumors for a long time this was us and counter intelligence and i don't think there is anything that knew about the premises and the fundamental part of the article but then i think the kill list article which seemed to be sourced with a lot of you know inside information, republicans began to say, gee, the white house can't plant these stories that make the president look good. they wanted to go after the so-called leaks and shift the narrative. it's hard to disagree with the notion that if people are leaking, they shouldn't be

pursued. ordinarily, this administration has been so tough on leakers. >> yeah. >> that i think the other story has been that when people have sort of gone to the president and said something is amiss in this area or that area this administration has come down on them like a ton of bricks even when the information was information that should have come out into the public. >> right. as a liberal, you know, i have been questioning the obama administration being so aggressive to going after the leakers and as a journalist and part of the white house press corps. people are getting slammed by the light for not doing enough. >> part of that tension that leads to the juicesiness of the washington insiders. the white house is not going accused of playing the leak game. they are coming down like a ton of bricks when people leak the wrong way. you can see where in the swirl of washington chit chart this becomes the big story for people outside the beltway, the big story is hey as you pointed out

i hope stulksnet works and. >> exactly. that's what i keep come down to. hey, if we can disrupt their nuclear weapons program, prevent them from getting the nukes, without sending in the marines through a computer virus, man i say power to you. >> here is the other thing, though, bill. put two pieces of the current model of war together. you got the cyber war and stulks net and then the drones. what we are begin to see is the modern face of war where it really is more like playing a video game from afar. and the rules of war, i had a fascinating conversation last night on my show with a professionor from yale law school, john witt saying what are the rules in law of war when it is a drone? when can you launch a drone? when can the president use a kill list? is it war? is it law enforcement? a lot of people might say who cares but when everybody else has drones and cyber war as well, then suddenly, this is

going to get complicated. >> right. i think the answer is there aren't any rules yet and we have to catch up with them. finally, before we let you go mitt romney saying what's this talk about cops and firefighters and teachers? the federal government has nothing to do with hiring them. right? a little out of touch maybe here, eliot? >> you know, mitt probably had his own private fire department. so he wasn't worried. if you have a problem, go to your father, borrow some money. i don't know. mitt is both the most awkward politician. an odd person. >> absolutely. i love that. he has his own private fire department in la hoja. right? >> they all do. okay. thank you for your time this morning. >> my pleasure. always a joy. catch him on the viewpoint tonight at 8:00 p.m. eastern on

leaks need to be prosecuted with the ut minnesota rigger of the law. i will be honest. i was very upset when, you know, they didn't go after cheney and scooter libby with the valerie playbill thing and it jeopardizes our men in university, my sons. it puts the lives of operatives at risk. i, being in nevada, it's very rare that i will agree with diane feinstein on anything. but -- >> she has been -- >> i saw her on face the nation the other day. i was in absolute agreement with her that these need to be dealt with. they are playing politics. >> yeah. diane, listen, i am a big huge dianne feinstein fan. >> you know you are. >> i think she is right on this.

scheduled to meet with russian president vladimir putin at a summit in mexico next monday and tuesday. george zimmerman's wife is charged with perjury for lying to the judge about how much money the two have. they booked her last night. she was released after posting a thousand dollars bond. you may remember at a court hearing in april, she and other family members testified that they had little money to pay to get george gymzimmerman out of jail. keeping that in mind, the judge set a bond at lower than expected. but authorities have since found out that the couple hid more than $130,000 they raised from zimmerman's defense website. records show shelly zimmerman stashed more than half of that money in eight different accounts and gave $47,000 to zimmerman's sister. george zimmerman is since back in jail as we all know and he does have another bond hearing. >> that's going to be june 29th. you can join us online live at any time. go to current.com/bill press. we will see you there ater the

>> i see. like the indians. >> like the indians, not sue. a bow named sue. >> exactly the native americans have, you know, objected to those terms and others like the redskins here. >> this is a little bit of a different category, ig. sioux was the actual name of an indian tribe. redskins is a racial slur. >> but at any rate they were -- they quo have been fined by the national collegiate athletic association. so the voters of the state went along. they are no longer going to be called the fighting sioux. we don't know what they are going to be called. >> won't be redskins. >> there was another initiative on which would have abolished the property tax in north dakota entirely. >> no more property tax. the people supporting that, of course, said we continue to want police protection, fire protection, parks libraries schools, streets, traffic

teachers and police. romney saying in council bluffs iowa. here he is. >> he wants more government. he wants another stimulus the. he wants to hire more government workers. he says we need more firemen, more phlegm, more teachers. did he not get the message? the american people did. it's time for us to cut back on government to help the american people. >> yeah. so mitt romney is saying let's fire more teachers. let's fire more cops. let's fire more firefighters. he was roundly criticized byfor that by amount of governors, a lot of public employees. so then, mitt romney yesterday doubles down and says, no, i am not backing off of this. i don't think the federal government should, in fact, have anything or does have anything with public employees. here is what romney said in response to a -- to the

criticism, quote that's a very strange accusation. of course, teachers and firemen and policemen are hired at the local level and also by states. the federal does not pay for teachers firefighters or policemen. so obviously that is completely absurd, says mitt romney. once again mitt romney proves he doesn't know what he is talking about. the huffington post, check it out. several people around the same story yesterday, the best one i saw was in the huffington post. romney is off by, just a few billion. bill yon dollars. in fact, the federal government sure, teachers and policemen and firefighters. cities and count ease.

comes from the federal government. every single year as hutchington posted out titles one is out there providing money to disadvantaged for disadvantage students around the country. >> that's 14 and a half. bill yon dollars every year keeps a lot of teachers on the job. special education funding from the department of education every year, again, keeping a lot of teachers on the job $116,000,000,000 a year in the area of police departments, there is a program called community-oriented policing services created in 1994. since then, it has pumped out billions an billions of dollars to local communities to keep their police department's up to date in terms of personnel and equipment. last year, alone it was

$247 million the year before $298 million under cops or community-oriented policing services. and in terms of firefighters a program through the federal emergence see management agency or fema, last year they grand $630 million understaffing for adequate fire and american response grants. it resulted in the hiring of about 4400 firefighters. 30 million firefighters. police officers 25 -- a little bit over $26,000,000,000. mitt romney. totally dead wrong.

most importantly, these are the people, teachers and police officers and other public services tax collectors, highway construction. you name it. people that we depend on, services who's protection we need and should be kept on their jobs not thrown -- not fire, more them. we need to hire, not fire more of them. every time he opens his mouth, mitt romney proves outhow out of touch he is with reality. the reason is, as eliot spitzer pointed out, mitt romney probably never had couldto call the fire department of. he has his own, probably one in new hampshire, one in california and one in massachusetts. >> that's what happens when you are as rich as he is. come back and talk to congressman peter welch.

for the head. >>. >> mr. attorney general it's more with sorrow than regret than anger that i would say that you leadve me know a lot terptive but to call upon those who resign your office. >> there is a cheap call for the resignation. >> senator cornyn's introduction should have been somewhat different. it's more with political opportunism. number 1, the fast and furious program was started under the bush administration. eric holder and the obama administration had nothing to do with it. why is it that there is such intensity withholder and and obama and not about bush and his attorney general. it obviously suggests there is a political motivation. number 2, the production of documents has been

unprecedented. the attorney general has testified eight times, bill before various congressional committees. eight times electronic records 46 different times to the of documents. the committees are asking him for things that legally he is prohibited to provide. >> that's the raw material in an ongoing investigation and blaming him for that. this is a politically agenda-driven deal by the republicans who are trying to buy changing goal posts changing what it is they want and refusing to investigate how this happened in the first place, which would require them to go back to the bush administration to turn this into some kind of political gain. frankly, i think most people aren't paying much attention because it's such a circus. >> on the fast and furious, i

think this was a dumb program started under george w. bush the idea we could speed up the flow of guns into mexico and trace them, right, and track them to the drug cartels, recently, congressman, at the whitehouse action i heard the president of mexico in response to a question from a reporter say what's really hurting the government of mexico and their attempts to crack down on the drug car tells is the flow of assault weapons from the united states because we no longer have a ban on the sell of assault weapons in the unions isn't it true that the people who are so-called upset about fast and furious are the same ones who would vote against renewing the assault weapons ban? >> that's right, bill. in the hearings there is a total opposition to have any discussion about things about guns that would be possible for

congress to do. they are pitting it law enforcement people against innocent civilians. >> that's a serious gun issue for mexico. >> next wednesday chairman darryl isa, has scheduled this contempt of congress vote against eric holder. again, what is isa's motivation here? and what is the basis for contempt of congress? >> there is no basis for contempt of congress here what he is claiming is that attorney general holder is refusing to cooperate. the contempt vote would be a completely political vote. mr. isa has a republican majority on that committee. they have targeted holder for political assault and the contempt vote would be pure and

simple. it's an abuse for political reasons. isa has been saying lots of things he has had to back away from during the courts this investigation, normally when there is some kind of disagreement about what documents can be produced, whether there is executive privilege, where there is investigatory privilege, those are worked out informally. eric holder has offered directly to mr. isa, look. let's get together. let's sit down. let's go over this and let's make sure that i can answer your questions about document productions, what i can and what i can't. and isa doesn't want to do that. he has refused to reply. basically because it would expose him for what's going on. basically, it's a political agenda, not a serious investigation. >> isa promised to be the hatchet man for the republicans

when he got the job. i guess this is his chance to prove it. right? >> well, mr. isa is good at that. >> yeah. >> he is good at that. it's a powerful committee. that investigator power that that committee has or the proskeptural power that a prosecutor has, those are really awesome powers and you take some restraint as well as aggression in order to do them in a way that pursues the investigation properly but respects the boundaries and mr. isa knows no boundaries. the boundaries are, you have got to respect the law and that the investigation has to have a purpose other than your own political promotion. >> well, it doesn't seem to be any other purpose here in mr. mr. isa's work indeed. congressman, all i can say is, i am glad for us, for the american people, that you are on that committee and you can at least tell the truth and make sure the truth gets outed. thanks so much for joining us.

working on social justice issues and poverty issues here in the nation's capitol. sister, good morning. thank you for coming in. >> a pleasure to be here. >> i don't have to apologize to you for getting up early? >> what you do. >> i get up at 5:00. it wasn't a problem. >> you can stop in any time. recently, the american nuns have come under fire, sister. >> that's why we wanted to talk to you, accused by the vatican of, quote, promoting a radical feminist theme. what are you doing that is so radical. >> it looks like we are living our vows poverty, chastity and obedience that call us to serve the needs of those who live at the margins of our society. i find it freeing energizing and yes, a bit radical because we don't marry, have kids and family. but we have a whole family of

everyone blogs to our family to care for, love and respond to. >> the vatican has said that yound members of the leadership of women religious are focused too much on poverty or focused too much on social justice. you are not talking enough about the issues that really matter like abortion and same-sex marriage. guilty as charged? >> well, i like to point to pope benedict. i call him saint. i don't know why. pope benedict xvi, charity and truth. and in there -- >> this pope. >> this pope's encyclical, he says the issues like abortion same-sex marriage, they are called individual and he refers to it as the life issues, and he says that the social issues are equal in weight, value and importance and that they are

ineg recallly connected and rooted in love. if you work on one, you are working on another. if you are working on social justice with the poor, the pope says we are working on the rest of the life issues. i think we are pretty well performing the whole call of the church to serve. >> and now, i wouldn't hold -- even though i spent some time as you know in the seminary. >> we won't hold that against you. >> i won't hold that -- i won't hold myself up as a scriptural sklar, but it seems to me that in the gospels, jesus says one or two things about serving the poor and helping the poor. no? >>. >> that's -- that to me is the life of -- the heart of our lives is reflecting on jesus and the gospel. where does jesus call us to? over and over and over jesus is with those who are at the margins. one of my favorite stories is

the samaritan woman at the well. jesus is in samaria. he wasn't supposed to be there here comes this woman. he doesn't ignore her, pretend like he doesn't see her. what does he do? he asks her for help to give him a drink. would she give him a drink? he was thirsty. so from my perspective, what that means is that we need to be betybe at the margins of our society with those who are outcast, collaborate for them. could you help me? we need help. they have appointed a group of men to come in to the american nuns and to rewrite your rules, rewrite your charter, your constitution and kind of get you back on track.

what do you think about that is it right for these men to come in and say, you girls are not doing the right thing? >> okay. let's get the a couple of things straight. first of all, leadership of women religious is an organization set up by the vatican. so like any corporation in the united states can be aejust by the government that controls them. >> they represent 80% of american nuns? >> the way it works, lcwr is the organization that the leaders. congregation that represent 80% of the nuns. >> so this organization of leaders is like a support group for leaders in the u.s. and that group was started in response to pope pieous the 12th urging that each country develop an organization to support religious life and leadership conference of women religious was our response in the u.s.

so they have that controlling interest, shall we say, in more ways than one, but the challenge right now is really a struggle over what is the next of the organization. lcwr has seen its mission as supporting the next of all religious in responding to the needs of society and in that their role then nurturing the leadership to support their systemstion we are friends with lcwr. we don't have a structural connection and a direct caption to rome. it's lcwr that has the direct line is a right to do that? do we like it? no. those are two different issues. the real challenge here, i

think, is that historically, women reliminggious role, we consider it a gift of the holy spirit to the church, whether they want the gift or not, is to the people at the margins of society. >> that's where we go. >> that's what we do. and historically, since the beginning, we have been an annoyance to those at the center who are trying to run an organized institution. i mean by definition if we are out on the edges meeting needs not being met and speaking to folks being left out and pushing and prodding and asking pesky questions, foemingdzlks at the center are trying to run a stream lined organization. they never like it. >> it's a mail dominated catholic church. they want to you go along with the rules. it seems to me. american nuns lately seem to be bucking the rule and saying, no,

yeah. they were in rome yesterday. right. they had their first meeting with the boys in rome yesterday. what do you hear? how did it go i just read press reports. i don't know any more than anybody else. i don't have an inside line on this. but it appears both sides, that carlo levada reported to john allen, the reporter, that there was a nice dialogue and, you know, went forward, we were tacking a step but his concern was that perhaps dialogue was being done with the death. i wasn't sure who he was referring to. i think that could be my concern, too. but i have a hunch we may have different people in the dye log. i understand that the statement from lcwr which i thought really briefly was that the leadership was returning, would have conversations with their board this weekend by a conference call and that they will be having region nam meetings around the country to discuss

what's happening and what next steps are. >> sister simone campbell is executive director of network. networkloby adoring where you can find them and more about their work. so do you believe american nuns are going to stand up for the work they have been doing and the work you think you ought to be doing rather than just say, yes, father we will go back and shut up? >> we are faithful to our gospel call. our gospel call historically has been to be a bit annoying. we are equal opportunity annoyers when it comes to doing our mission. so that's where we are. the real challenge is and this is the piece that sometimes can get lost in our polarized plugs

is that the. these opportunities and we know that in the spiritual life when you do spiritual direction and try to grow in the spiritual life resistance is the edge of spiritual growth. if i get upset in resisting, maybe i have some growing to do. so we are all called to grow. so this opportunity of criticism is frustrating. it makes me sad. i felt really upset about it. on the other hand, it is grace to gain deeper insights to be more faithful than we were before, to examine our life and say do they have a point? are we off base someplace? one of the places i found i have been off base is i have avoided saying that all of the work we do is about life. supports life is pro-life and that those who work at the first nine months after conception our

life, working on feeding babies and education and caring for those who are sick and making sure kids get an education and have a family life and that seniors get taken care of and all of those issues in between, those are life issues, too. i backed away from using that word because i felt like i would break out in a rash or something. it had been so polarized. my place of conversion is to claim, reclaim what jesus says. >> sister simone campbell in studio with us. you have a chance to join the conversation about this i don't call it a war. maybe a difference. >> intense conversation. >> intention conversation. join us. we will be right back. radio meets television, the bill press show, now on current tv.

undecided when it comes to mitt romney's plans for the economy which gives him a little more wiggle room. you know who also seems to be undecided about mitt romney? rick santorum even though he has endorsed the g.o.p. nominee, he is not exactly singing his praise praises. last week he told a graup of reporters romney was a quote tremendous improvement over president obama gu saying we could have been more of an improvement presume improvement. when asked if he trusts mitt romney, he says he trusts him more than president obama. he is passionate about some of the same things mitt romney supports, santorum says but he is short of saying he is enthusiastic about romney himself. mitt romney is going to address more than with 00 ceos in washington. the majority is closed to the press. it's going to be a q and a session with the ceos after romney gives a short station.

right? yeah. >> on the republican side, yeah. >> on the republican side sheldon adelson and foster freese. as you mention that, i don't know of any leading democrat who has -- right? drats will have their own super p.a.c. >> not like on the republican side. it's such a different endeavor on the republican side. for democrats, we get a lot of startup money from holiwood friends of the creative community, we are dedicated to things like equality. on the republican side, it's not just because they believe in the cause if it tears apart the epa and deregulates the energy industry, the koch brothers make billions of dollars just in the first term of the romney administration. >> that's exactly their agenda. you can see how they spend their money. it's all to improve their bottom line. >> right. >> you did a shameless buzz. you i will do one.

bain capital -- why do you focus on bain capital? what office his experience of bain capital tell bus mitt romney. >> we start where mitt romney is he his intense experience would make him a better president than president obama. i have familiar lusly -- fabulously wealthy. we want to make sure voters have a clear sense of how mitt romney made his money and give them he laid off thousands and thousands of workers but when they failed, he made money. when they were put out on the street, he made money. he cancelled benefits so they could make more money. >> his investors made more money? >> his investors made more money. if you look at how that was

practically applied to the state of massachusetts, it was a disaster. he left the state number 1 in debt and number 47 in job creation. so it's not like his business experience led to a positive result in massachusetts. i was governor of massachusetts at the time a country was experiencing an economic boom. somehow he was just above louisiana which had just experienced hurricane katrina. i think we have seen what his experience has done for the state of massachusetts he sports the ryan bucket which would be a disaster for most middle class families. >> we are the democratic party and there is a wide range, this new democratic wing where they think that you should be kinder to the business community and coddle wall street and things like that. which it's just not our opinion.

we are just saying that if mitt romney says his piz experience was, it would not make him a better president. it would make him a worse approximately. [you talk to voters in richmond and ohio where there has been independent focus groups, stan greenberg, wal-mart. purple state strategies a bi-partisan firm all say same thing when people have more income about mitt romney's experience, they have pause. and they were citing ads e we are going to keep going on this.

all of the madness in all forms of taxes. voters got something right yesterday. in north dakota they rejected a ballot initiative to eliminate all property taxes. look. believe me. i lived through proposition 13 in california. it devastated local governments forcing the closure of lineraries and schools and parks. >> that's one of the reason california is still in such bad shape today. the north dakota plan would have been even worse, eliminating all property taxes. it was the ultimate expression of greed. people wanting all of the services a government provides but they didn't want to pay for them. and the people of north dac oatkota proved they were smarter than that. they recognized the importance of local government and public servants and they rejected that initiative. good for them. liz winstead joins us tomorrow right here in studio. have a great day. come on back and see us. more fun again on the full-court press tomorrow.
